Master Checklist for Selling or Closing a Practice
[Editor’s Note: Practice Vitality is one of the key pillars of the ICS Strategic Plan. In order to assist members in preparing for the future, our Practice Vitality Taskforce has developed this information for ICS members. The ICS has an upcoming webinar on this topic on February 4, 2025. You can register here.]
Over the years, we’ve had members who have reached out to the ICS asking for advice on what steps they need to take in order to close their chiropractic practice, whether they are looking at retirement or relocating to another state or a multitude of other scenarios. With all the different aspects of a practice that need to be tied up like patient care continuity and access to medical records, informing insurance companies and licensing boards, plus the winding down of the business itself- closing a practice can seem like an overwhelming task.
Our Practice Vitality Taskforce, along with the help of our legal counsel, has worked to provide a checklist of tasks to consider when faced with the closing of a practice. Please also refer to our previous article titled Legal and Regulatory Considerations in Selling or Closing Your Practice. We hope you find this helpful.
