Obiturary: Dr. Fred J. Turk
Fred J. Turk (1941-2026) passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026 at Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines, IL at the age of 84. Fred was a family man at heart and did everything for his family. Fred was an extremely generous person and enjoyed helping others. Fred was Roman Catholic and belonged to St. Michaels Church in Wheaton, IL and St. Symphorosa Catholic Church in Chicago, IL. There, he was active in Saint Vincent Depaul which provided assistance to those in need and he was actively involved with PADS.
Fred was also well known as Dr. Fred Turk. He owned a medical office named Mayfield Clinic in Chicago, IL since 1967. He worked at Mayfield Clinic as a Chiropractor for 58 years. Dr. Fred Turk was known in the community and helped many people. Fred had an extremely strong work ethic and worked up until the age of 84 years old. Fred graduated from National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, IL in 1967 with a D.C. Degree. Fred also earned a Certificate in Physio-Therapy from Kellberg Institute in Chicago, IL in 1963. Fred was also certified as an EMT. From 1994-1997, Fred was the Chairman of the Chiropractic Department at Suburban Hospital in Hinsdale, IL. Fred was also a Member of the Teaching Faculty at National College of Chiropractic in Lombard, IL from 1976-1984.
Fred married his beloved wife Jane E. Turk (Motzny) on October 11, 1970. They had two daughters, Susan (Frederick) Severson and Doreen (Robert) Hans. Fred also had 5 grandchildren: Nicole (Jake), Amanda (Chris), Heather (Matt), Emily, and Preston. And a great-grand-daughter named Adeline, and a future great-grandson who is expected to arrive in July of 2026. Fred is the beloved brother-in law- of Judith (Richard) Anderson. Fred loved his nieces and nephews: Julee (Chuck) Miller (God- daughter), Tony (Melanie) Bachleda, Tom (Barb) Bachleda, Brad (Aileen) Anderson, and Jeff (Ellen) Anderson.
Fred enjoyed camping with his RV, spending time at his cottage in Galena, going to the Dells in Wisconsin, cookouts with his family, riding in his prized Cadilac, playing the piano, and most importantly spending time with his family.
Fred will now be surrounded in Heaven with his wife Jane, his mother Margaret, his father Frank, his sister Barbara, his brother- in-law Rich, his mother-in- law Angela, and his father- in- law Raymond; along with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and beloved pets.
