Dr. Scott R. Fladland: A Pillar of Leadership and Advocacy in Chiropractic
The Illinois Chiropractic Society (ICS) proudly celebrates the achievements of Dr. Scott R. Fladland, a chiropractic physician whose dedication and service have profoundly impacted the chiropractic profession in Illinois. Dr. Fladland’s career, spanning nearly four decades, showcases an unwavering commitment to patient care, professional development, and legislative advocacy.
A Distinguished Career
Dr. Fladland began his journey in healthcare with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, followed by a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree from the National College of Chiropractic in 1986. After completing his chiropractic education, he opened his private practice in Chicago the same year, where he has remained dedicated to providing exceptional care to his patients.
Dr. Fladland’s expertise extends beyond clinical practice, having contributed to research published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. As an adjunct faculty member at the National University of Health Sciences, Dr. Fladland has also mentored countless students, preparing the next generation of chiropractic physicians through the Community-Based Internship Program.
Leadership and Advocacy
Dr. Fladland’s influence extends far beyond his practice. His involvement in professional organizations, including the Illinois Chiropractic Society (ICS) and the American Chiropractic Association, has earned him a reputation as a leader and advocate for the profession. He served for many years served as a director of the ICS, playing a pivotal role in advancing chiropractic care standards and advocating for patients’ rights.
In 2012, ICS recognized Dr. Fladland with the inaugural John “Doc” Davidson Political Service Award. This prestigious honor highlighted his tireless work as ICS PAC Chairman, building consensus and fostering alliances to strengthen the profession’s voice in the Statehouse. His contributions were described as those of a “silent champion,” whose efforts often went unnoticed but were instrumental in advancing chiropractic advocacy.
In 2013, Dr. Fladland was named the ICS Chiropractic Physician of the Year. This award aptly underscored his qualities as a dedicated physician, intuitive visionary, clever leader, resilient advocate, noble activist, generous mentor, and “political animal.”
Community Service
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Fladland has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service. His involvement with the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless and recognition from the Chicago Lung Association for top fundraising efforts reflect his compassionate spirit and dedication to giving back.
