Part of the sandwich generation, I am finding it increasingly critical for all providers to truly understand the aging population. As I visit multiple different providers with parents, and seeing how the interactions take place and and seeing the unique needs of the elderly. Again, I really believe that it’s critical for all providers. But I’m super excited to be able to tell you that our convention that we have coming up the first weekend of October- and that’s October 2, third, and fourth- that we actually are addressing this specifically. Dr. Kanarski Hart is going to be there on Saturday to talk about practical ways that you will be able to help serve that community better through screenings and better treatment protocols. The whole nine yards. It’s going to be a phenomenal session, and that’s just one of the key sessions.
The following day, she’s going to be talking. On Sunday, she’s going to be talking about our participation in emergency response situations. On Friday, we’re going to be talking about sports injuries, and we’ve got Dr. Brandon Steele who’s going to be covering those types of things. Dr. Devilla is going to be coming in and talking about making your notes better and documentation better, which helps increase our opportunity for winning appeals and those critical things that are happening with some denials that many of our doctors are going through. We’re also going to be talking about ways that an integrative health plan through Dr. Carberry can help improve overall outcomes for your patients as well. It’s going to be a phenomenal weekend, and I’m strongly encouraging you to attend it.
By the way, our convention isn’t just about the education; that’s a part of it. The opportunity to be able to interact with colleagues and find out what is working for them- some of the best practices that are happening in their offices. When I go to conferences, I will tell you that what I learn in the classroom is nice, but what I learn in the hallways from my colleagues is invaluable. Those are the things that I bring back and actually employ faster. Those are the things that actually make a difference for us as an association and how we advocate and how we represent the chiropractic profession in Illinois. So it’s the being present and being around others that have a similar practice to what we do, or don’t have similar things to what we do, but we can learn from them in the hallways. These are those opportunities, and we would strongly encourage you to be there.
