Achilles Tendon and Calf Injuries: One and the Same
One of the biggest recent sports stories involved Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors. In Game 5 of the NBA Championships in Toronto, Canada, Kevin went down with an Achilles tendon injury.1 The interesting situation here is that Durant had also been nursing a calf injury for the previous few weeks that actually kept him out of the first 4 games of the NBA Championship. It was hard watching him fall to the ground, clutching his right Achilles and calf area with his hands. He limped off the court assisted.

I’ve recently seen some posts that concern me in chiropractic forums on social media. Largely the context of these posts is negative and often misinformed. Calculation of Lien Payments
The ICS has been following a line of court cases regarding the calculation of lien payments to health care providers in injury cases. In some jurisdictions, courts have ruled that plaintiffs (patients) in injury cases may deduct and retain litigation costs from the total settlement or judgment amount BEFORE applying the percentages to pay health care liens. Of course, this formula reduced the amounts available for payment of health care liens and effectively required health care providers to share in the payment of litigation costs.

A chiropractic physician may provide dietetic and nutrition services, which includes nutrition counseling, assessment, and therapy. A chiropractic physician may also provide a medically prescribed diet (a diet in which nutrient levels need to be monitored, altered, or both, for an individual whose health is impaired by disease, injury or surgery), for any individuals other than residents of nursing homes.
