The Illinois Chiropractic Society Board of Directors and other key ICS leaders met last month to find creative ways to advance the chiropractic profession in Illinois. As in previous years, the 2019 session was very productive. In fact, previous leadership planning sessions resulted in these very successful ICS initiatives:

- Development of the patient-focused HealthierIllinois.com,
- Formation of an Independent Physicians Association (Natural First IPA),
- Creation of the patient-centric “What Does a Full Life Look Like?” advertisement (https://youtu.be/_T1RjO1CrtA),
- Addition of chiropractic benefits to employer plans across Illinois (22,500+ covered lives),
- Addition of a member’s only health care insurance option,
- Stronger presence on chiropractic college campuses,
- Development of MD Aware program, and
- Much more.
After reviewing the overall successes and challenges from the last several years, the leadership team charted the course for the coming years. After considerable brainstorming, discussion, refining, and action, your leaders are continuing to:
- Push for ways to open doors to chiropractic care for our youthful population, through patient education, and by creating professional unity;
- Pursuing ways to increase the availability of standards and board certifications;
- Equipping ICS members with appropriate materials to help improve trust with both patients and other providers; and
- Demonstrating the value of chiropractic care through all these efforts to other providers, the public, and legislators which will result in full, clear, and continued acceptance of the chiropractic profession.
Join me in thanking our volunteer leaders for both their work in the past and for their ongoing efforts. It is only because of forward-thinking purposeful leadership that we continue to see progress for the chiropractic profession and our patients.
