Do You Want to Change Your Medicare Participation?

December 31, 2021, is the deadline for changing your Medicare participation. For example, if you are currently a non-participating provider with Medicare and you would like to change to become a participating provider, you must take that action by December 31.

Want to Change Your Medicare Status?

The ICS recommends providers use the PECOS system to make any necessary changes to your participation status or enrollment information. You can access PECOS here.

Alternatively, you can use form CMS-460 to make the change via paper and mail the completed form to:

National Government Services, Inc.
P.O. Box 6475
Indianapolis, IN 46206-6475

In either case, make sure you complete the change by December 31.

Keeping Your Current Status?

You should do nothing. Medicare will continue to process your claims in 2022 according to your 2021 participation status..

Are You Not Officially Enrolled in Medicare?

If you are seeing Medicare patients, then you are required to enroll in Medicare. There are NO exceptions to this rule.
