Important Survey: BCBSIL Recoupment Demands

Over the past several months, several members have contacted the Illinois Chiropractic Society (ICS) regarding recoupment demand letters they received from BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois (BCBSIL). These demands cover services provided both recently and from several years ago, and have resulted in recoupments being applied as offsets to future payments.

In our commitment to finding solutions for our members, we have discussed this issue with BCBSIL and they have asked for additional examples. The ICS is also exploring all options to protect our profession and enforce legal limitations on recoupment demands (see article: Time Limitation on Recoupment Demands).
