Illinois House Congratulates ICS

Members of the Illinois House of Representatives unanimously adopted a resolution acknowledging the Illinois Chiropractic Society on its 100th anniversary. House Resolution 937 states that “we congratulate the Illinois Chiropractic Society on achieving its 100-year anniversary, providing a century of leadership and advocacy for chiropractic physicians in Illinois.” The ICS is proud to accept the resolution in honor of this important milestone.

The ICS was formed on September 20, 1926, when seven members of the chiropractic profession in Illinois filed a certificate with the Illinois Secretary of State to form a corporation. The certificate was accepted, officially forming the Illinois Chiropractic Society  “to further the interest of the chiropractic profession and promote scientific research along chiropractic lines.”  Since 1926, the Society has served to promote the value of the profession, the welfare of members, and the health of the people of Illinois.

Representative Kevin Schmidt (R-Millstadt), a practicing chiropractic physician and ICS member, sponsored the legislation. Dr. Schmidt said, “I am fully aware of the leadership the ICS brings to the chiropractic community in the state.” He added, “I am happy to sponsor and support the resolution highlighting this 100-year milestone along with all of my colleagues in the Illinois House of Representatives.”

Representative Bob Morgan (D-Highwood), Assistant House Majority Leader and Chairman of the House Health Care Licenses Committee, announced his support as well. “I sincerely congratulate the Illinois Chiropractic Society on its anniversary. The ICS is a strong voice for the chiropractic profession, and I am happy to see it still thriving after 100 years.”

The resolution highlights the fact that the ICS promotes professional standards, ethical conduct, advanced training, and quality health care. It also notes that the organization protects patients’ rights and access to chiropractic care.

The centennial anniversary will be celebrated July 31-August 2 in Oakbrook, and all ICS members and their staff are encouraged to attend. You can find all of the information on the celebration here.
