Protecting Chiropractic Physicians Before Key Votes

Protecting Chiropractic Physicians Before Key Votes

Spring session hits a critical midpoint as key deadlines approach. ICS is at the Capitol daily, reviewing bills and protecting chiropractic physicians while legislation advances through both chambers.

Transcript:

Hi. This is Ben Schwarm, Director of Government Relations for the Illinois Chiropractic Society, and I just wanted to give you a brief update what’s going on in the Capitol in the spring legislative session. So, I am in the Capitol today, on April 8. The House of Representatives is in the Capitol this week, working. The Senate is not in this week. Next week, both chambers will return to continue their work. So there have been committee meetings going on this morning. House members will get on the House floor here shortly and start working through the hundreds of bills that they have already passed out of committee thus far this spring. So generally, we’re approaching a committee or a deadline to have all of the bills voted out of their chamber of origin. So, in other words, House bills have to be voted out of the House. Senate bills have to be voted out of the Senate in the next couple of weeks. So this generally, is the halfway point of the legislative session.

Once those bills switch chambers, they’ll go through the whole process again. They’ll go back through committee, they’ll get new sponsors in that chamber, and so forth. So just to let you know, we are here every day protecting the interests of chiropractic physicians across the state of Illinois. We look at all legislation amendments and make sure that there’s nothing that will negatively impact chiropractic physicians. We regularly send out legislative updates through our emails, through our mailings, and other reports, so please follow the progress there. And of course, if you ever have a question about anything, feel free to give us a call in the office. Okay, we will keep you updated. Thank you. Bye.
