Member Spotlight: Kevin Schmidt, D.C., Practicing Physician and Illinois State Representative
The Illinois Chiropractic Society is pleased to shine the spotlight on Dr. Kevin Schmidt for his outstanding dedication to the chiropractic profession and to his service to the State and his community.
Dr. Schmidt has been serving the Freeburg and Millstadt communities in the St. Louis Metro East area as a chiropractic physician for the past 16 years. He is the owner and operator of Schmidt Chiropractic, opening his first location in Millstadt in October 2006 and his second office in Freeburg in September 2015. He is known for assisting his communities by offering accessible, affordable services to his patients and by providing educational healthcare lectures to area businesses.

Still a practicing D.C., Dr. Schmidt successfully ran for office and was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 2022 representing the 114th Legislative District. Representative Schmidt is running for re-election in November’s Illinois General Election. He has been a steadfast supporter of the ICS and a leader in the Capitol on, not only issues affecting the chiropractic community but those touching the entire medical profession. He has also carried legislation on behalf of the ICS and is vocal on the issues that matter to chiropractic physicians. Rep. Schmidt serves on the House Health & Human Services Appropriations Committee, the House Health Care Availability & Access Committee, and the House Public Health Committee.
Dr. Schmidt was born and raised in Belleville. He now lives in Millstadt with his wife, Laura, and their two sons, Luke and Dean. A graduate of Belleville West High School, he attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree and Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Biology at Logan University in Chesterfield, MO.
In his community, Dr. Schmidt is an avid volunteer. He is the past president of the Millstadt Jaycees and Optimist Clubs. He is a past board member of the Millstadt Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Mason and Shriner organizations.
