Many doctors noticed that hot and cold packs (97010) were no longer being covered, as of June 1, 2017. It appears, based on the explanation of benefits, that BCBSIL is now bundling this service with other services and not paying for it separately. They claim that the new edit is closing a loophole from a longtime policy. The ICS has discussed this issue with BCBS, but they have been unwavering. We expect the practice of bundling 97010 will continue.
