Kicking 2025 Off Right: A Letter From the ICS President
I’ve had the pleasure of serving on the Illinois Chiropractic Society (ICS) Board of Directors for 12 years. I still remember my first planning session as the President of the Northern District of the ICS and being in Springfield for a weekend with a baby at home – who is now in middle school. A lot has changed during that time, including insurance reimbursement/policies, technology and a pandemic. It’s incredible to witness our state association embracing these challenges as a chance to evolve, improving services to member doctors and chiropractic patients in Illinois.
In early 2023, our Board of Directors and the Strategic Advisory Group met to refocus our strategic direction. We created four task forces, each charged with a long-term objective to help us achieve our mission, “To advance the Chiropractic Profession and help create a Healthier Illinois,” through our vision, “Improve your practice health, improve your patients’ health.”
The Illinois Chiropractic Society Task Forces and Objectives are:
- Member Value: The robust platform for chiropractic engagement and must-have benefits.
- Practice Vitality: The resource that invigorates your practice and cultivates successful careers.
- Strong Advocacy Voice: The preeminent voice protecting chiropractic through government, insurance, and public relations.
- Visionary Leadership: The force providing leadership, strategy, and resources to serve and advance chiropractic.
Over the past two years, the amount of work produced from these task forces has been nothing short of remarkable.
The Member Value and Practice Vitality task forces worked together to develop the concept of our compliance dashboard, Statusfi, which is free for members to use and allows practices to stay compliant with efficient guidance. These task forces also helped launch Practisync last year, a wholly owned ICS subsidiary that provides cost-effective billing services at a discount to society members, and the workgroups continued the ICS’ direction to provide more online education, forms, templates and other members-only information at our doctors’ fingertips. The task forces’ current focus is to develop a “StoryBrand” for the ICS to help us convey our message more effectively through our website and other media.
The Strong Advocacy Voice task force has been working diligently with national groups on the Medicare Modernization Act, developing informational postcards and posters for doctors to provide to their patients, and lobbying on our behalf with legislators. I will be joining a delegation of doctors and ICS staff in Washington DC later this month, speaking to representatives from Illinois about the Medicare bill to encourage coverage to the full extent of chiropractic scope.
Our Visionary Leadership task force is refining onboarding processes for new leaders in our state association, reviewing job descriptions and ensuring our profession continues to have a passionate group of individuals protecting Chiropractic and enhancing our ability to practice in Illinois.
Perhaps one of the most exciting developments in 2025 will be the addition of AI technology to help doctors find answers to compliance, legal, and clinical questions 24/7 – even when the ICS office is closed. It’s just another example of how our society is constantly adapting and working on behalf of its members.
All of this could not be possible without our dedicated staff, many of which have been with the ICS for years (if not decades!) and the many volunteer hours contributed by your Board of Directors and the Strategic Advisory Group. If you are excited by the direction the ICS has taken over the last several years and would like to learn more on how to help us continue improving our practices and our patients’ health, I encourage you to reach out to me, any member of the Board of Directors, or the ICS staff, on how to get involved. We are actively looking to recruit the next generation of leaders as the Illinois Chiropractic Society celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026!
