Minimum Wage Changes: County and City of Chicago – July 1, 2023
Minimum Wage laws in Illinois are becoming increasingly complex due to step increases under Illinois law and ordinances passed by both Chicago and Cook County. Although the statewide minimum wage law is not changing, on July 1, 2023, both Cook County and Chicago minimum wages are increasing, so practices located in those locations must implement these changes effective July 1. However, for practices located in other areas of Illinois, the next statewide increase will occur on January 1, 2024.
The Illinois Chiropractic Society is providing a simplified chart to help doctors determine the appropriate minimum wage for their locations.
Chicago | Cook County* (not Chicago) | All Other Counties | |
1-3 Employees | $13.00 | $13.00 | $13.00 |
4-20 Employees | $15.00 | $13.70 | $13.00 |
21 or More Employees | $15.80 | $13.70 | $13.00 |
