Illinois Chiropractic Society is led by a board of directors. The following information outlines the election process for these leaders.

The election process occurs in two steps:

A. Nomination of Candidates between June 1 – July 15.
B. Election by ballot.

Ballots emailed on or about August 15th with a return DEADLINE of September 15.

THE NOMINATION PROCESS

You may nominate by petition candidates for any of the seats up for election. To do so, file an original document (you may use the enclosed petition) titled “Nominating Petition” with 28 signatures of members eligible to vote.

This Petition must:

A. Be an original document containing at least 28 signatures of eligible members (doctors like yourself that received this notice), NO FAX or other facsimile petitions are acceptable;
B. Be returned through the U.S. Postal Service;
C. Be filed not earlier than June 1 nor later than July 15.

Eligible members are “General Members” in good standing (with dues paid current to that date).

THE ELECTION PROCESS

On or about August 15th, the executive director will email ballots to eligible members, which must be returned NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 15. The ballot mailing will contain information about each candidate.

Board Positions Eligible for Elections Each Year:

  • President 
  • First Vice-President
  • Second Vice-President 
  • Secretary
  • Director-At-Large (Two or three vacancies for a two-year term)

Marc Abla began working at the Illinois Chiropractic Society in 2002 and became the Executive Director in 2008. He brings his extensive financial, administrative and association experience to the ICS. He is a Certified Association Executive and a graduate of the Certified Leadership Series through the Illinois Society of Association Executives. Additionally, he is a member of the Illinois Society of Association Executives, the American Society of Association Executives, Association Forum, Congress of Chiropractic State Associations, and the American Chiropractic Association.
