Billing with the Right Modifiers: Getting Paid Correctly
Transcript:
Hi, I am Dr. Evan Gwilliam. I’m the senior vice president of Practisync, which is ICS’s third-party billing and insurance revenue management service. And I’d like to invite you to join me for an upcoming webinar called Billing With the Right Modifiers: Getting Paid Correctly. It’s july 14 at 12:30 central.
Modifiers are only two characters long, but they can be the difference between getting paid, getting denied, or getting audited. Unfortunately, they’re also one of the most misunderstood parts of chiropractic billing. So, over that hour, we’re going to walk through all the modifiers that chiropractors use the most, including like the two-five and the five-nine, and we’ll make sure you know exactly what they mean and don’t mean. And then we’ll go over the Medicare modifiers like AT, GA, and GY, and then we’re going to go over the other 10 or 15, or so, that you’re not going to need very often, but you should probably be aware of, just so that you kind of have them all squared away. We’re going to discuss when modifiers are appropriate, when they’re not, what documentation is needed to support them, and some of those common mistakes that lead to denials and even recoupments. So, I’m going to show you also how to use NCCI edits and understand what payers are actually looking for when they review your claims.
So whether you’re a provider, a biller, a coder, or an office manager, you’re going to leave with some practical tools that you can use immediately to improve claim accuracy and reduce risk. I hope you’ll join me, and I look forward to seeing you there.
