BCBSIL – Licensed Massage Therapists Delegation Alert

As the ICS previously reported to members, BCBSIL published a notice in May and June of this year that it intended to change its policy regarding claims and reimbursement for services provided by licensed massage therapists.   Subsequent to BCBSIL’s announcements, the ICS sent two written inquiries to BCBSIL questioning the changed policy.  Recently BCBSIL has released the following:

“In the May and June 2014 issues of Blue Review, BCBSIL announced that effective Sept. 1, 2014, Licensed Massage Therapists will be able to submit claims directly to BCBSIL for services rendered. We have postponed this until further notice. Continue to watch the News and Updates or the Blue Review for further information.” [Emphasis added.]
