As licensees under the Medical Practice Act, chiropractic physicians must file reports when they suspect or know a patient is the subject of abuse or neglect. The Medical Practice Act permits the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to discipline a medical license for willful failure to report an instance of suspected abuse or neglect (225 ILCS 60/22(A)(22)). Failure to report may also be a criminal offense.
