We are less than one year away from license renewal. That deadline is July 31, 2026. Don’t wait till the last minute to get your CME hours done. Go ahead and begin to work on them now. If you haven’t already begun to work on them, you want to make sure that you’re not waiting until the last minute. If something happens and goes wrong, you don’t want to blow through the deadline. The consequences are not fun. We help doctors every year that inadvertently forget to renew their license, and so we want to make sure that you’re ahead of the game. So get your CME taken care of. First, you have to have a minimum of 60 hours of category one or formal hours of CME every renewal period. That’s 60 total hours, then you also have to have a total of 150, so if you have 60 category one hours, then you would need another 90 in Category Two, and that’s journal reading, practice management, consultation with colleagues, things along those lines. Now, you can take as many as 150 hours, if you will, a formal or category one hours. Or you can take 120 hours of formal Category One hours, and then the difference would only remain 30 hours that you would need in Category Two. Make sure you document all of those hours.
Now, additionally, there are five individual courses that are also required to be completed. The first two are required every single renewal cycle, and that is sexual harassment prevention training and implicit bias training. Both of those must be completed every three years, or every renewal cycle. Now, the other courses, which would be mandated, reporter training, cultural competency, and recognizing dementia, those requirements actually have to be done every six years or every two renewals. Now one of those is brand new, and so that has not been offered until this particular renewal cycle, and that is cultural competency. As a reminder to you all of those courses, except for the mandated reporter training, but the other four required courses, as well as all of your category one, CME hours, ICS members can get through the Illinois chiropractic society as a part of your membership at our conferences and things along those lines. But those required courses, such as sexual harassment prevention training, implicit bias, cultural competency, recognizing dementia, all are a part of our distance learning courses and are available to ICS members at no additional charge, so you can get those.
Now, Cultural competency, we have scheduled, we have not offered that yet, so it’s not available on demand, and we haven’t offered that webinar yet. That is coming in January of 2026, so make sure that you get that booked so that you can attend and get your required hour, because that will be the first time that one is available. Now that course, again, as a reminder, is every six years, and so you would not necessarily have to take it again, the following renewal and but you would then the one after that, so every six years.
Now, another way to go about this is to go ahead and take all four of those courses each renewal cycle. We offer those courses as new courses each renewal cycle in order to make sure that you have fresh new content utilizing the latest information available, and give you the heads up as far as what you would need to know in those particular areas. So all of that is available. We’ll include some links down below to make sure that you have all of the information that you need in regards to CME, and we hope this helps you out. Get started today, and we’ll catch you next week.
